Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly is construction observation?
Construction observation, also known as site inspection or field observation, is a critical component of the construction process. It involves the vigilant oversight of a construction project's progression. The primary goal of construction observation is to verify that the project is being executed in strict adherence to the approved plans, specifications, building codes, and industry standards.
This meticulous monitoring process entails regular site visits by the observer, who carefully documents the work in progress, noting any discrepancies, potential safety hazards, or deviations from the established plans. The observer acts as the eyes and ears of the project owner or client, ensuring that the contractor is delivering the expected quality and workmanship.
Construction observation plays a vital role in mitigating risks, preventing costly errors, and ensuring the timely and successful completion of the project. By identifying and addressing issues early on, the observer can help avoid delays, disputes, and rework, ultimately safeguarding the project's integrity and the client's investment.
Why do I need construction observation for a new build?
Construction observation is essential for any new build to ensure that the project is completed to the highest standards. As your construction observer, we will be your on-site eyes and ears, meticulously monitoring the construction process to ensure that it adheres to the approved plans and specifications. By identifying and addressing any potential issues early on, we can help prevent costly delays and rework, saving you both time and money. Our goal is to provide you with peace of mind, knowing that your investment is being protected and that your new build will be completed to your satisfaction.
How do your services differ from the builder's inspections?
Our services are very similar to a builder's inspection as we follow many of the same procedures and guidelines to assess the quality of the construction. However, the key difference lies in our independence. As a third-party inspector, we provide an unbiased and objective evaluation of the property, ensuring that you have a clear and accurate picture of its condition. We work solely for you, the client, and have no affiliation with the builder or any other parties involved in the transaction.
What are your flexible packages, and how do I choose the right one for me?
We offer a plethora of home watch and inspection services to meet our client’s various needs. In our initial consultation, we run through a series of questions to help identify what specific services you might need.
Once we have a clear understanding, we then create a proposal for you to review. Our proposal includes an itemized list of recommended services and their pricing. A great benefit of this method is we’re often able to provide discounts on services for those with multiple service needs.
Our proposals are not finalized until you sign and approve. You are more than welcome to remove services you don’t see fit.
How often do you conduct site visits?
We pride ourselves in being flexible for our customers. We can conduct site visits as often as needed, weekly, monthly, or based on construction progress.
